Cycling
The well was constructed in 1632 and has been located in a brick building since 1871.
The original masonry of the well had largely collapsed around 1800, forcing the residents of Scherpenheuvel to go to Zichem for their water supply.
The repairs were completed in 1819 and people no longer had to go to Zichem to fetch water. The pit was originally 62 m deep.
It is a protected heritage object. (No more water is brought up.)
