The Zossen lime kilns were built between 1850 and 1880. They represent a further development compared to the Rumford lime kilns in Rüdersdorf and were the most modern of their time. At the same time they represented the end of this development. Further development concentrated on more efficient rotary kilns. Lime was burned in the two 18 and 21 meter high Zossen furnaces for the building trade in the region. The ovens that have been preserved are located between the Notte Canal and the train station.
