The main castle of Burgau Castle looks back on an eventful history. Built at the beginning of the 14th century by the Counts of Heinsberg and given as a fief to Wilhelm von Burgau, the romantic moated castle now presents itself in a new splendor. Destroyed in 1944, in ruins until 1975 and restored since 1998, Burgau Castle is now once again the jewel of the city of Düren. The trademark of Burgau Castle is the bay window built in 1551 (donated from a happy marriage), which determines the image of the south tower of Burgau Castle. The outer bailey, built in France. Zeit, is now, among other things, the home of the Niederau local association and a festival and concert hall for the Düren population.
