The old visitors' gallery is the "most dilapidated monument" in Munich, writes the SZ. Once built by the Nazis for air shows, it now rots on the edge of the trade fair city that was built on the former airport site - and is also a biotope.
The so-called "head building", most recently a café during the Buga 2005, is, however, urgently waiting for reuse, truly unused potential in a growing city.

As of March 2020: On 5.3. the city council has finally launched a redevelopment concept that is to be implemented in the first half of 2021. From summer 21 onwards, the hall, café and outdoor area are to be "played on", although the framework is still open: creative ideas are in demand. In any case, the 25th anniversary of the trade fair city is to be celebrated here in 2024.

I can imagine gastronomy here very well. Now it seems to have been made available to a citizen-art project.

The "head building" used to be the ticket office of the Riemer airport grandstand. The building was erected between 1937 and 1939 and is today one of the last remaining architectural monuments at Munich-Riem Airport. In 2005, the listed building was upgraded as a "BUGA Lounge" for the Federal Horticultural Show; it has already been used sporadically for cultural purposes in recent years.

Under the title "experiement kopfbau", this exciting building with its checkered history will serve as a place for social and cultural use experiments: From 2022 to the end of 2024, the head building in Messestadt-Riem will be used by different actors as part of an experimental phase.
