There used to be a Catholic forest rest home here. The grotto is what is left of it. The rest was destroyed in the last war. Residents and friends of the grotto still maintain it. On the Sunday after the 13th of each month, the rosary is prayed at 3 p.m.

At the beginning of 1932, craftsmen and a youth group from the Caritas Association began to level a piece of land measuring approx. 27,000 square meters in the middle of the forest near Fauststraße, to surround it with a fence around 650 meters long, to lay a water pipe and to build a barracks of 30 people x 7 meters to build.
The Catholic Parents' Association of Munich initiated the construction of this playground and forest recreation area.
On June 26, 1932, the square was inaugurated by Cardinal Faulhaber in the presence of thousands of people and was given the name "Cardinal Faulhaber Forest Rest Area".
A statue of the Virgin Mary is also erected, which is then placed in a “Lourdes Grotto” a year later.
The children are looked after by the nuns in Berg am Laim, among others.
The whole complex is destroyed during the war - but the grotto remains intact.

Very nice place that radiates a lot of peace.
