After serving his time as a 3rd class sub-prefect, he considered another assignment and sought to get closer to his family, but the positions of sub-prefect in Lodève and Nîmes eluded him.
On the recommendation of Charles Daniélou, deputy for Finistère, he took the post of sub-prefect of Finistère in Châteaulin on January 5, 1930. He held it until 1933.
Jean Moulin is linked to the poet and artist Max Jacob, whom he often comes to see in Quimper. Who knows if it was in homage to his friend that he later took, among other pseudonyms, that of “Max”?...

A leading figure in the Resistance during the Second World War, Jean Moulin was the youngest prefect in France in 1937. He opposed the German occupiers in 1940 and created, under the aegis of General de Gaulle, the National Council of the Resistance. Tortured by the Gestapo, he died on July 8, 1943 on the train that took him to Germany.
On the bank of the Odet, just opposite, there are also plaques commemorating the resistance movement and its link with Quimper.
