Pub, hotel and cornerstone of British mountaineering.
The hotel played host to the first successful Everest & Kangchenjunga expedition teams whilst they were preparing for these endeavors.
Notable patrons in the past include, Sir Edmund Hillary, Tenzing Norgay, Sir John Hunt, Joe Brown and George Mallory.
The pub is cozy and full of Mountaineering paraphernalia & history. Good beer too.

A steep route up the southern slopes of Yr Wyddfa beginning at Nant Gwynant.
The Watkin Path is one of the six main routes to the summit of Yr Wyddfa. Beginning at a little over sea level, it ascends steeply up the southern slopes of the Yr Wyddfa massif, crossing loose scree before eventually joining the Rhyd Ddu Path to the summit.

Probably one of the most famous of mountaineering hotels in Wales. When Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay first stood on the top of Mount Everest, only a handful of people knew the debt of gratitude they owed not only to the mountains of North Wales but also to a little hotel in the lee of Snowdon.

It was at the Pen y Gwryd Hotel (or 'PyG') that members of the 1953 Everest Expedition stayed during their training for that historic adventure, and it subsequently became - and remains - a place of pilgrimage for mountaineers the world over.
