The Liverpool Working Horse Monument 'Waiting' was designed by renowned equine sculptor Judy Boyt in consultation with members of the Retired Carter's Association. The horse will stand approximately 16 hands high (1.80 m, 6 feet), cast in bronze, on a rectangular slate base. The base will have the outline of a cart and two horses, as well as a potted history of the Liverpool Workhorse sandblasted into the surface.

The estimated total cost of the memorial is now £120,000. To date, the Carters have accumulated a balance of over £76,000 on their own. Fundraising is underway and they have been designated as a non-profit organization.

The location of the monument has yet to be confirmed. The Carters believe that a position at the Albert Dock site, Hartley Quay, would be appropriate as many of them have traveled the cobbled streets of the area during their careers (Source: liverpoolmonuments.co. uk/projects/carters.htm). The Liverpool Drafthorse memorial was unveiled on 1 May 2010 on the quayside in front of the Museum of Liverpool. For more than 250 years, horses were used to haul goods to and from Liverpool's docks and businesses. In its heyday, more than 20,000 horses worked the streets of Liverpool, more than any other city outside of London.

One of the many sculptures in Liverpool's waterfront area. This bronze work of art shows a workhorse, which was used in large numbers in the docks to transport goods. This life-sized monument was erected in recognition of the “Liverpool Working Horse” for his 250 years of hard work. The story is described on a display board.
