The Finkehede landscape is a beautiful dune landscape with heather surrounded by coniferous forest. The sand was blown here from areas farther west. Until 1967, the Finkehede landscape was covered with forest, but when the trees fell during a violent storm, it was decided to leave the area open. Today the heather has taken over. Galloway cattle graze in the heather dune landscape through which the yellow trail passes.
