Transition at the Kleine Roer where the water is sometimes outside the classic bed. The Kleine Roer is a side stream of the Roer and originates in the wet grasslands near Sourbrodt.

Hiking

There is also a nature reserve around the small Roer. This consists of a mosaic of meadows, raised bogs and acidic marshes. Peat was still cut in the raised bog areas, such as around the Rurhof, at the beginning of the 20th century. The peat was then brought to Sourbrodt station by wagon. Nowadays it is a Natura 2000 area.
