Tips
Dinslaken Castle was probably built in the 12th century as a motte (= mound of earth with a tower). In the 15th and 16th centuries, the castle was significantly expanded, but then fell into disrepair and was badly damaged by a fire. After further construction work and destruction, the castle was given its current form in 1907-1909 and has been used as the administrative headquarters of the city of Dinslaken ever since.
