Dinslaken Castle was probably built in the 12th century as a motte (= mound of earth with a tower). In the 15th and 16th centuries, the castle was significantly expanded, but then fell into disrepair and was badly damaged by a fire. After further construction work and destruction, the castle was given its current form in 1907-1909 and has been used as the administrative headquarters of the city of Dinslaken ever since. After further severe destruction in the Second World War, the castle was rebuilt on the old floor plan in 1950-52.More information: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burg_Dinslaken
