In front of the Penninckshoek is a bronze statue from 1975 by Nobel Prize winner Albert Schweitzer, made by Pieter de Monchy. The Albert Schweitzer center was located in the Penninckshuis for years. The statue was unveiled in 1979 by Queen Juliana.

The statue of Albert Schweitzer just in front of the Penninckshuis dates from 1975 and was made by Pieter de Monchy. It is here because the Penninckshuis housed the international Albert Schweizer Center for several years, which is now in Maarssen.
