This house is named after the wealthy citizen Reyner Buyskens, who built houses for the poor in his garden around 1400. In 1419 his daughter Aleyt gave the house with the poorhouses to the Sisters of the "Life Together", to which she also belonged. From then on, the sister house was called Sint Agnes or Buiskenshuis and existed until 1625. It was later also referred to as a monastery, although it was not actually a monastery. A bronze plaque next to the main entrance commemorates the former monastery. It contains the text: "What hurts, that cleanses". There is also a picture of a sister with an open book in her hand. The street name "Klooster" is also reminiscent of the former sisters' house. A monastery garden also belonged to the Buiskenshuis. A remnant of this medieval courtyard still exists. The garden is walled all around. From the garden you have a beautiful view of the tower of Lebuinuskerk.
