The Lausheim-Blumegg train station is on the historic Sauschwänzlebahn railway line, a popular excursion destination in the region. It was initially set up in 1899 only as a halt at "Im Weiler" because, unlike the other original stations along the Wutach Valley Railway, there was no siding here.

Sauschwänzlebahn: The spiral tunnel at the Große Stockhalde below the village of Fützen gave the railway its name. Inside the mountain, the tunnel describes a complete circle with a diameter of 700 meters. But the Wutach Valley Railway, as it is officially called, also winds its way through the Fützen Valley. The impressive route with 6 tunnels and 4 large viaducts, each of a different type, was built between 1887 and 1890 for military reasons to bypass the Hochrheinbahn, which partly ran through Swiss territory. A distance of more than 25 kilometers was necessary to overcome the 231 meters in altitude between the station in Weizen and Blumberg (9.6 km as the crow flies). In 1977, one year after the official closure of the railway line, the museum railway started operations. In the months from May to October it runs every weekend and on public holidays.
