Bosgebied Schophemerheide is located on the slope between the valley of the Voer and the ridge of Altenbroek. It consists of historic deciduous forests and some young hardwood plantations. Yet there are also some old coniferous woods, which will eventually be converted to mixed indigenous forest types. In this forest, sustainable forest management is done to produce quality wood. Valuable grasslands have been created on the calcareous slope through centuries of extensive agricultural use. The domain is embedded in the Altenbroek nature reserve.
