This classical style square was built in 1776 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the reign of Charles of Lorraine. It was one of the few places where the bourgeoisie and the nobility strolled on foot. Their members felt safe there, the square was cobbled, and the air was better there than in the lower town. You will certainly find a museum to your taste in this district, especially with the Museums of Fine Arts and Bozar, the last masterpiece of the architect Victor Horta.
