    "Rasender Roland" Narrow-Gauge Railway

On July 22, 1895, the first eleven kilometers of the historic narrow-gauge railway (750 millimeter gauge) between Putbus and Binz-Ost were opened on the island of Rügen.

The rail network was further expanded and covered around 100 kilometers by the end of the 1960s.

The "Rasender Roland," as Germany's oldest narrow-gauge railway is humorously called by locals, is not just a rolling museum but an integral part of the island's local transport network. With a top speed of 30 km/h, it connects the Baltic Sea resorts on the Mönchgut peninsula in the southeast of the island of Rügen.

The RüBB rolling stock includes six steam locomotives and two diesel locomotives, as well as various passenger coaches, baggage cars, and freight cars. This includes the historic heritage train, which is occasionally used for special train journeys.

Family- and group-friendly fares are available, and bicycles can also be transported. Interested visitors can book a ride in the driver's cab by registering in advance.

The "Rasende Roland" runs every two hours on the Göhren-Baabe-Sellin-Binz route.

In the summer, it switches from Putbus to a triple track to Lauterbach/Mole.

The narrow-gauge railway connects the Rügen seaside resorts from Göhren to the Lauterbach pier. With a maximum speed of 30 km, the bathing railway gives passengers ample opportunity to take a long look at the surrounding area. The day ticket for adults costs € 25; Cozy restaurants have been set up in the adjacent train stations at every major stop.
