Skálabrekkufoss is a spectacular waterfall in Iceland, located along the Skógá River. It is the eighth waterfall encountered when hiking upstream from Skógafoss along the famous Laugavegur trail. Skálabrekkufoss stands out from the previous waterfalls on the route with its impressive drop of 141 feet (about 43 meters) into a deep, narrow and rather precarious amphitheater surrounded by rugged volcanic rocks.

The narrow canyon focuses the spray from the waterfall in such a way that it is very conducive to the formation of rainbows in the afternoon hours, adding an extra picturesque touch to what is already the second best waterfall along the Skógá. The trail past Skálabrekkufoss briefly becomes less defined, with many different social trails spreading out in multiple directions, largely due to the appeal of the waterfall. The trails that offer the best views of the waterfall cross several areas with dangerously steep drop-offs and a distinct lack of handholds.
