The fountain welcomed water in the dry summer of 2018, in contrast to the Weißmain spring.
The first version of the source was made in 1923, the year in which the Asenturm was inaugurated on the Ochsenkopf. It was given its current version in stone in 1969. The fountain is named after the chief forest master Rudolf Reissinger, who was the head of the Bischofsgrün forestry department at the time and chairman of the Bischofsgrün branch of the Fichtelgebirgsverein from 1918 to 1932.
