    The Bozner Tor belongs to the old city fortifications with the two other city gates still in existence. The city wall was built between the 14th and 17th centuries. Parts of it had to be rebuilt several times after the devastating floods of the Passer. The gates were closed for security and defense purposes and the city was no longer accessible. The city wall enclosed the city center and partly also the Steinachviertel. Three of the four city gates are still standing: the Bozner Tor, the Vinschger Tor and the Passeirer Tor. The fourth, the Ultner Tor, was originally located on Freiheitsstrasse, but was later rebuilt further west (on Rennweg / Theaterplatz), but was removed in 1884.
