Varone is a stream almost 10 km long, which is mainly fed by meltwater from the mountains. The stream, which at the beginning is still called Magnone, rises west of Lake Tenno at over 2000 meters. On its way to Lake Garda, it plunges over 100 m into the depths as the Cascate del Varone and then flows into the lake at Punta Lido.

The stream rises under the name Magnone west of Lake Tenno at an altitude of 2138 m slm. below the Corno di Pichea, which belongs to the Lake Garda Mountains, in the municipality of Tenno. It is formed by several rivulets whose flow is heavily dependent on rainfall and which is therefore dry most of the time.
