In 1336, a "Festes Haus" near "Plakau" (Platkow) was first mentioned. It was probably located at the current location of the castle. The castle took on its current appearance in the 1870s. The two-story, neo-Gothic complex is modeled on the English castle and country house style.
The castle has been privately owned since 1992 and has housed a small museum, a guest house and a café/restaurant in the meantime. Unfortunately, everything seems to be closed.
