The unfinished church could not be completed due to a lack of funds. Today, there is a sports field inside the Església Nova (New Church). Bizarre, but nice to look at. Concerts, plays and other events take place in the "church without a roof". In my opinion, this is a typical example of how necessity is turned into a virtue on Mallorca. I find the way the unfinished church is being dealt with to be very pragmatic.

On September 25, 1910, the first stone of the Esglèsia Nova de Biniamar (Selva) was placed, a temple designed by the architect Guillem Reynés and sponsored by the Mallorcan politician Antoni Maura whose works were not completed due to lack of funding. Some would pray in it.
