There is a magnificent hedge on the north side of Kreisstraße 4. There were the tracks of the old railway line to Grimmen and on to Tribsees. Not only people could move here, but also the farmers of the region could transport their milk, turnips, potatoes and grain to the cities and then on to the port. On November 26, 1896, the Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft Greifswald-Grimmen (GGE) opened the approx. 50 km long, standard-gauge (1435 mm wide) railway line, which ran from Greifswald in a westerly direction via Grimmen to the Tribsees junction near the Mecklenburg border. In contrast to the numerous other "Lenz-Bahnen" in Pomerania, it was not a narrow-gauge railway (600 or 750 mm wide). It was dismantled after World War II for reparation reasons and has not been rebuilt to this day [found on wikipedia]. Today the hedge is a compensatory and replacement measure for a large construction project to compensate for damage.
