This bridge is a cycling disaster !!! For many years, cyclists and pedestrians have had to drive / walk very close to each other and have heavy traffic next to them. A small mistake and you fall over the high sidewalk edge onto the car lane. A typical example that a lot of money is spent on car traffic, on good and safe bike paths that are supposed to serve everyday traffic, but much less! The new red coloring of the bike path does not really show that it is much too narrow!

The Nibelungen Bridge in Linz connects the city center and Urfahr districts. It runs in a north-south direction across the Danube waterway and is 250 meters long, 30 meters wide and rests on two concrete pillars. The bridge clearance width between the pillars is 90.1 meters, the headroom is 7.52 m at standard level.[1] Of the four Danube bridges in Linz, it is the most westerly. The bridge was built between 1938 and 1940 right next to the place where the first and for a long time only bridge in Linz was built around 1500. The old one was demolished after the new one was completed.

The dam root of the Abwinden-Asten power plant is located a little below the bridge - varying somewhat with the flow and the weir position. From there the water level becomes almost horizontal, the flow speed decreases and the deposition of gravel and mud increases. In the 1980s, the Danube froze over here for the last time - after a long time.

It is a beautiful sight when you come across the Danube bridge and have the main square in front of your eyes. What is not so nice is the very dense traffic, as it has already been suggested.
