If you come from Espiunca, walking this beautiful wooden path up to the bridge costs 2€.

Otherwise, the path is also included in the entrance fee for the bridge and takes up to 2.5 hours depending on your fitness - it's worth it 👍🏽 at the end you can take a taxi back to the starting point. Approx. 15€

There is plenty of signs asking you to book the Suspension bridge online, even reminding you at both entrances. There is a maximum of 70 people per crossing, and they probably want to avoid disappointment if you just turn up and pay.
Re dogs, I saw some on the path who were well behaved. The bridge would have been horrible for dogs to walk on as it is a metal mesh and would hurt their paws.

During the summer months the wooden plank path is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and in the winter months from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can register on the Paiva Walkways homepage; the entry price is two symbolic euros. Can be done independently of visiting the suspension bridge. You can also register on site via the Internet (if there is still space) - the employees on site will help you with this.
