Please check local regulations for: Rio Paiva
The wooden staircase construction must first be conquered, there are around 500 steps to the top. But in return you get a great view of the narrow valley, which has been carved by the Paiva River over millions of years. Because the stone is very hard, the gorge is V-shaped.

Up several wooden steps and wooden walkways you reach the 516 Arouca pedestrian bridge in Arouca in the north of Portugal, which is constructed as a suspension bridge. At 516 m long, it replaces the 494 m long Charles Kuonen suspension bridge (Valais, Switzerland) as the pedestrian bridge with the longest span in the world. It crosses the gorge of the Paiva River at a height of 175 m. Depending on the source, it is also considered the second longest pedestrian bridge in the world after the Baglung Parbat rope bridge in Nepal. (There are now a few new buildings that have a longer span.) Admission is affordable & worth it - please book your time slot ONLINE in advance 👍🏽 the large wooden walkway is included in the admission and takes up to 2.5 hours depending on your fitness level
