Hiking

Ship motifs and angel heads are reminiscent of the Weser-Werra shipping era. Built in 1673 in the Baroque style with elaborate flat carvings, incised heads with outstretched tongues on the corner posts, prominent male figures with cow's feet. The gateway shows a ship motif and angel heads with wings at the apex of the arch. The struts of the dwelling depict mermaid-like figures, called Melusins. These water symbols are due to the proximity and importance of the Werra.

The building complex is a beautiful relic from the days of shipping on the Werra. It impressively demonstrates the wealth of that era. Highly recommended.
