The building at Platzhoffstrasse 25 is the two-storey villa built in 1895/1896 for Mrs. Julie Bayer, née Hülsenbusch, widow of the company founder Friedrich Bayer.
A memorial plaque hangs on the building:
"Former Villa Duisberg, where Privy Councillor Dr. Carl Duisberg lived, 1861 - 1935, chemist and industrialist, general director of the Bayer works since 1912." (From 1942 - 1963 the building housed a police station; since 1981 it has been used by the "IONA residential communities for disabled people").
