Toys Sasse on Herzogstr. 44 in Elberfelder City closes its doors on December 21, 1996 due to a decline in sales. In 1912 Carl Sasse built the striking corner house at the end of Herzogstrasse and initially sold brushes, baskets, rope and strollers there. After the war, son-in-law Martin Schmitt concentrated on selling toys. In 1979 his son Rainer joined the business. Since the beginning of the 1990s, however, this has been decreasing more and more, so that the shop is now being closed.
