The Böhler Hof was originally an old inn. Due to the expansion of Ronsdorfer Straße at the beginning of the 1970s, it fell into the local sidelines.

The eventful history of the building can only be understood vaguely today. The front part of the elongated structure with its five window axes probably existed as early as the beginning of the 19th century; groin vaults in the basement indicate this. Around 1856, the Böhler Hof received an extension, which can still be seen today through a slight offset in the gable roof. The representative facade with its stepped gable and slightly protruding central axis may also have been created during this renovation. A horse trough in the passage between the front and rear buildings suggests that the Böhler Hof, located on the city limits of Elberfeld, was also used as a post office. The courtyard was restored at the end of the 1980s. While retaining the existing features and the internal logic, the new components have been set off against the historical building structure.

The Böhler Hof 1 property is a two-storey, gable-end quarry stone building from around 1860, of considerable depth, which consists of two structures lying one behind the other in the same building line.

The happy combination of these two style phases makes the building a rarity in terms of architectural history, the testimony of which is not significantly impaired by the lack of a balcony over the entrance. The quality of the architecture and the use of sophisticated individual forms give the building a representative, almost official character. This indicates that there is a historical significance (courtyard) hidden behind it that has yet to be explored.

Barn buildings, ponds with inflowing springs, wells, farm roads, open spaces and green spaces represent a genuine component of the Böhler Hof monument and still form an intact ensemble today, which is of great documentation value with regard to historical living, working and production conditions.

The embedding of the Böhler Hof in an unchanged cultural landscape gives the complex a high authenticity value, the preservation of which there is a public interest with regard to the testimony of historically grown and outdated habitats.
