Today's parish church is the first church in Rurich and was built between 1868 and 1873 according to plans by the architect August Carl Lange. The groundbreaking ceremony was on March 19, 1868. The new church was not completed until 1873 and was benedicted on October 15, 1873. The church dedication and consecration did not take place until June 10, 1894. The church was made possible by the owners of Rurich Castle, who donated the building land, and the owners of Gut Kippingen, who paid for the upkeep of the pastor.
During the Second World War, the Herz-Jesu-Kirche was damaged by shells. Repairing the damage lasted until 1948.
