Floßdorf is located in the Jülicher Börde south of Linnich an der Rur. To the west of Floßdorf are the villages of Welz and Ederen, to the north of Rurdorf, to the east across the Rur Tetz, and to the south of Barmen and Merzenhausen. Immediately to the east of Floßdorf, the Altdorf-Kirchberg-Koslarer Mühlenteich flows into the Rur, after running parallel to the Rur for almost 11 km further west, passing several mills and paper mills.
