Climatic changes have caused glaciers to decline rapidly for many years. The above-average high temperatures of recent years make the eternal ice shrink more and more - lately faster than the experts had originally thought.
A questionable development and yet the glacier retreat leaves fascinating and landscape-forming traces in the stone: the rock cut by ice and water, the so-called glacier cut. Here you can see first hand how small man is in comparison to the forces of nature, how formative the landscape changes here - ice sheets become rocky areas. But please be careful: when it is wet, it can be very slippery!

the glacial section can be explored on the glacier trail up to the Prague huts. Shortly below the Alte Prager Hütte, the path branches down to the left to the glacier cut. Back past the eye of God, one descends into the valley at the waterfalls of the Gschlössbach.
