The church was built in 1914. Architect Wolter te Riele designed a three-aisled cruciform church in neo-Gothic style.
The church was heavily damaged by artillery fire in 1945. After the war, the church was restored, but the tower was rebuilt in a different and lower way.
The Sint-Antonius van Paduakerk is a national monument, partly because of its ensemble value with the rectory, sexton's house, cemetery and the Sacred Heart statue (1922) by Jan Custers.
