The 2.50 meter high fountain was created in 1989 by the sculptor Erwin Mosen from red Miltenberg sandstone. The Kostheim wine tasting stand is also located here from May to August. Opening times: Fri from 5:00 p.m., Sat from 4:00 p.m., Sun from 10:00 a.m. The square is named after the Kostheim local politician and long-time Kostheim mayor Franz Henz, who died in 2006.

Kostheim is the second oldest wine-growing community in the Rheingau ("in terms of wine, Kostheim belongs to the Rheingau). It is well known that the Romans brought wine with them to the Rhine. Even today, around 120 hectares of vineyards are cultivated by twelve wineries in the district. The main varieties grown are Riesling and Pinot Noir, but also specialties such as Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Chardonnay. In most years, the grapes ripen about two weeks ahead of the rest of the Rheingau. The wine fountain is a reminder of this age-old tradition.
