Beautiful renatured and with interesting information boards, the small excursion is worthwhile. Access from Wormser Strasse (pedestrian bridge) or from the residential area above the quarry (Am Steinbruch or Keltenstrasse, Weisenau)

The Weisenau GeoPath was opened in May 2011. The path is one of the flagship projects of "Mainz - City of Science 2011". It invites you to take an informative walk through the quarry. Twelve information boards provide information about the rocks of the Tertiary period of the Mainz Basin and the history of limestone mining and the production of cement in the former cement works of HeidelbergCement AG.
