Resterheide (Diestersedijk entrance, Peer)

With no less than three child-friendly walks, Resterheide, on the border between Hechtel-Eksel and Peer, is the ideal place to explore with the whole family. Part of the Blauwe Reigerroute is currently inaccessible due to a subsidence. More precisely, it concerns a part of the path around the Schuilenswijer. Incidentally, you cannot make a round around the Schuilenswijer, although Komoot says it is possible. After all, the southern part is under water with the presence of a beaver family on the Bollissenbeek.

The Resterheide on the border between Hechtel-Eksel and Peer is a well-known walking and nature area with the Begijnenvijvers as a central meeting place. Since 2006, the municipalities of Hechtel-Eksel and Peer have been working together here under the Intermunicipal Association Resterheide (IVR). At the instigation of the municipalities and the partners involved in the field, the area was developed as a walking area, nature development projects were carried out, adapted forest management was implemented, a guide service was started and educational projects were developed. In 2017, 1,200 pupils went on an excursion together with Natuurpunt. The walking counter placed by Regionaal Landschap Lage Kempen counted 25,033 walkers that year.
