Droyßig has a bear tradition going back a hundred years and even has the animal on its coat of arms. There were even two outbreaks in the 1950s, but they all ended lightly. Originally it was wolves. But bears were more attractive to tourists.

The bear enclosure in Droyßig has a long history, it has been there since 1870. Before the first brown bear moved in, a wolf lived in the enclosure.
