I can only recommend the path. I started in jena, then down to Camburg. Normally the pain starts in Stöben, but the few kilometers are free because you can get through Tümpling again anyway, so why not get on the bike path right here. through beautiful woodland then across to Zeitz through beautiful nature and then on through Saxony-Anhalt. You pass places there that you know from driving a car, when you are often on the A9, but never thinks to cycle there. on the way there are nice rest stops and stops that invite you to linger. If you still have some air, you shouldn't be afraid to take the Elster cycle path from Zeitz and continue to Gera via Crossen and Bad Köstritz. In summa sumarum it is almost 100km, just enough for a beautiful sunny day. Then from Gera back to Jena by train.
