is the ruin of a castle from around 1300, also known as Naborch, Huys te Swalmen or Aldenborg, which is located in Swalmen am Swalm. Ouborg is one of the oldest castle ruins in the Netherlands, a little younger than that of Huis te Merwede, but the remains are more extensive here. The Ouborg was probably destroyed by fire in the 15th century.

The castle was a rectangular building measuring 25 by 17 meters with the octagonal keep or tower keep at the southern corner. On top of this residential tower there was an L-shaped residential wing in a small courtyard. The walls of the castle were 1.50 meters thick and made of brick. In 1916 many of the castle's stones appear to have been used in the restoration of the nearby St. Dionysius Church in Allefelt. A photo from around 1900 shows that the walls were significantly higher then.

Ouborg Castle, also known as Ouborgh, was once an imposing medieval castle dating back to the 13th century. It served as a fortified residence for noble families and played an important role in the region's rich history. Unfortunately, the castle was destroyed in the 18th century during acts of war.

What remains of Ouborg Castle is an atmospheric ruin, surrounded by green meadows and old trees. As you walk through the remnants of the thick walls and towers, you can vividly imagine the grandeur this castle once possessed. The authentic atmosphere and the impressive architectural details, such as the Gothic windows and the weathered stones, contribute to the mystique of the place.

The ruins of Ouborg Castle are freely accessible to visitors and offer a unique opportunity to enjoy the history and peaceful surroundings.

The octagonal castle tower is unique and beautifully situated along the Swalm.
