To the south of the path towards Kenzingen there are interesting, natural, colorful meadows that are a "widespread natural monument". In spring, in addition to numerous orchids (monkey orchid, helmet orchid, fire orchid, pyramidal orchid, greater twayblade), Kaiserstuhl anemones, carthusian pinks, sage and rattleboxes bloom in large groups.

Please do not enter the meadows under any circumstances, but look at the protected plants from the path. Binoculars can be helpful.

If you come from the Forlenwald forest on the Black Forest Association's Four Castles Trail towards Lichteneck Castle, after leaving the forest on the left and following the path north at this marked point, you will reach the "Burgacker" natural monument, a small meadow with a view of Kenzingen. The semi-dry grasslands there are in full bloom, especially in May, with some orchid species. These semi-dry grasslands have become rare, have to be mowed annually by volunteers and can only be preserved as natural cultural assets in this way. This rare, attractive plant community is particularly fascinating for both frequent visitors and volunteers. If you follow the Four Castles Trail further past the Ziebold linden tree and small almond trees, you will reach the "Lichteneck" castle ruins.

Beautiful views of the Kaiserstuhl. The town of Kenzingen is on the road and has picturesque corners. Good places to stop for refreshments. At the Ritter winery, a little outside in the direction of Bombach, there is good parking and a popular restaurant.
