These impressive loess walls are located above the mountain church and cemetery in Bahlingen am Frohntaleck. One of the themed trails through the Kaiserstuhl is the “Little Owl Path” (from Riegel through Bahlingen, further via Eichstetten to Bötzingen and Wasenweiler, along which other impressive loess hollow paths) can be walked through. There are many breeding tubes for bee-eaters in the loess walls, which can also be easily observed from a safe distance.

With the most impressive loess walls / ravines in the whole Kaiserstuhl area; the vertical loess walls provide habitat for some species of birds that nest in the walls.
