Monte Cogolo (1610m) is the highest relief on the western buttress of the Novegno massif, located between Monte Caliano and Monte Rione.
Precisely because of this particular position, during the First World War it was fortified by the Italian army, to control the mule track that connected the Caliano gunboat to Forte Rione. Climbing to the top, with an exposed passage, a further cave with two windows dominates the passage.
