A majestic and complex Italian military tunnel from the Great War, dug deep into Mount Priaforà to fortify this slope and defend the Novegno valley. Work was carried out in the winter of 1916-17, after repelling the Austro-Hungarians who, with the Strafexpedition, had occupied Priaforà and advanced dangerously to the edge of the Vicenza plain. This extraordinary structure, vast and long, included four gun emplacements, machine gun nests, warehouses, ammunition depots, a troop shelter, an infirmary, and a water tank.
