On the night of 21-22 June 1944, an RAF Lancaster 1 aircraft crashed in Mol-Postel. Of the seven occupants, only one person managed to escape with the help of Belgian citizens from Mol-Postel. Three occupants were captured, two were killed and the body of one person was never recovered. This tragic event marks a painful chapter in the region's history.
