Just past Lauragh, on the Beara Way and Wild Atlantic Way, this old stone bridge will inevitably make you stop. The lush green of the nearby Derreen Gardens frames the scene, while the water beneath the bridge glistens in the light and Knockatee Mountain stands majestically over the landscape in the background. An ideal place to stop for a moment and put your bike to one side.If you pass through here, it's worth allowing a few extra minutes - not because of the difficulty of the route, but because of the peace that this place exudes. The route itself takes you along narrow, slightly undulating roads that occasionally require full attention but are never overwhelming. A quick glance to the side reveals small bays and densely wooded banks that give the whole thing an almost fairytale character. There are no signs or notices asking you to stop - it's the landscape itself that speaks. And if you're lucky, the rhododendrons will bloom along the path, adding a colorful accent to the green surroundings.
