Hiking Highlight
Crystal clear mountain lake in breathtaking scenery. Lush green meadows line the shore and directly above the gray mountains of the Allgäu tower. Not only at the first sight of the lake will you be awestruck.
If you are really brave, you will jump into the cold water yourself after your ascent to Rappensee - due to the altitude, the lake is still quite cool even on warm summer days.

The Rappensee (also called Großer Rappensee) is a Bavarian high mountain lake at 2,047 meters altitude in the central main ridge of the Allgäu Alps. It is the main lake in a cermin with several lakes, including the Kleine Rappensee. It lies 506 meters north below the on the German-Austrian border lying Rappenseehead (2468 m), near Einödsbach and Oberstdorf. It is located in a carmine, which is dominated by the mountains Rappenkopf (2276 m), High Primate Head (2424 m), Rappenseekopf, Hochgundspitze (2460 m), Rotgundspitze (2485 m) and Linkerskopf (2459 m). To the north, the hollow is completed from the elevation of the Seebichel (2111 m) to the Rappenalptal.
