A very pretty little town with many old half-timbered houses, lovingly renovated, romantically located on the quietly flowing Main. You should definitely combine the castle and the location. Both are worth a trip.

The market is the historic heart of the city, which is believed to have been founded in the 8th century. For centuries the city was the center of the county of the same name, which existed as an independent state until 1806. With the Rhine Confederation Act of 1806, the part of the country in which the city of Wertheim is located was transferred to the Grand Duchy of Baden and has shared the history of Baden since then.
