When completed, the fortress is said to have had the capacity to house at least 1,000 warriors, but it was rarely needed as the Incas did not suffer invasions from hostile states. Probably for this reason, Sacsayhuaman was much more than just a fortress. The complex included temples, notably one to the sun god Inti, and was used as a site for Inca ceremonies. Sacsayhuaman was also an important Inca storage depot, storing weapons, armor, food, valuable textiles, ceramics, metal tools, and precious metals.

A beautiful and well-preserved temple complex of the Incas. The builders are Pachacútec Yupanqui and Túpac Yupanqui. 20,000 people are said to have built this complex in 70 years. Numerous worked stones and rocks are more than impressive, like all Inca buildings. The stones used were taken from the quarry directly from/at the plant.
As usual with the Incas, a lot is based on the 3-fold structure, so the puma also appears here. The system is constructed in the form of a puma head. Really worth seeing.
